ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Katie Pitchford, and I’d like to take the opportunity to introduce myself. I graduated Northwest High School in 2000 and shortly thereafter, joined the U.S. Navy where I proudly served our country for 13 years. After undergoing a major back surgery, I was medically retired from the military. While I was on active duty, I pursued my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, graduating Cum Laude in 2018 from Saint Leo University. I performed many research projects, which focused majority of my research on education, various learning styles of children, and academic success.

Having been active duty military, I’ve traveled all around the world and the United States. This has afforded me the opportunity to be actively engaged with over a dozen different schools and learn how they operate, what works, and what doesn’t. In addition, I’ve engaged with the communities, listening to their ideas, thoughts, and concerns and have developed strategies which I proposed to school boards. I’ve volunteered many hours with various schools, being 100% engaged with children and their education. This experience and dedication are part of what I plan to bring to the Northwest Community as a School Board Member.

 

Northwest Schools provides a community atmosphere for students and family. While some school districts change mascots and colors between their schools, and have no sense of camaraderie, Northwest engages the entire community; students and parents are proud to be Mounties. I know I was, and so are my kids. The 2019-2020 school year was the first year for my children to attend Northwest, and let me say, what a year! However, even with the challenges this year has posed, we are a proud Mountie family.

 

It has been an aspiration of mine to serve the community being on the school board. I’d be honored to be elected onto the school board where, along with the community, we can work together to ensure our children are provided the utmost educational experience.
